Updated: Mar 29, 2019

What is more comforting than homemade mac and cheese?? Nothing. The answer is nothing. This recipe is super simple and quick, as it skips the baking step. Now, if you want that crispy cheesy top layer, just follow the steps here and then pop it in a 350 degree oven for 30 minutes. So easy, right?!
Ingredients:
1 Box elbow macaroni
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper to taste
2 cups milk
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese
Instructions:
Cook pasta according to box directions.
Meanwhile, in a large sauce pan, melt the butter over medium heat and add flour, salt, and pepper. Whisk until smooth and cook for 1-2 minutes.
Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Bring to a low boil, whisking constantly for about 2 minutes or until thickened.
Stir in cheese until melted.
Drain pasta, add to cheese sauce, and stir until combined.
Note: for baked mac and cheese, pour into a 9x13 pan, cover with foil, and bake at 350 for 30 minutes.
